OLIVER ZHOU

Oliver Zhou
Editor in Chief | Co-PresidentOliver is a third-year Medical Sciences student at Western University, pursuing an honours specialization in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences. As COUHR London's founding Editor in Chief of The InScight from 2020-2021, Oliver and his team of reviewers have produced concise, educational infographics on trending topics in public health and medical research. Having become Co-president and Coordinator of Research Affairs, he is looking forward to making a difference in the lives of underrepresented science students with his accomplished team. Outside of COUHR, Oliver is a piano enthusiast and research assistant at Western's Music and Neuroscience Lab, helping investigate the effect of music and its rhythms on how the brain controls movement.

RENEE FAJARDO

Renee-Gabrielle Fajardo
Literature ReviewerRenee is a third year undergraduate student at Western University studying Pathology and Pharmacology. She joined COUHR as a Literature Reviewer for the InScight Volume 1 in 2019, and is continuing her role to work on the InScight Volume 2. Renee is passionate about eradicating global health inequities, promoting women's health, and increasing healthcare accessibility. Outside of COUHR, Renee works with UNICEF Western and Women's Health Network Western to supplement her academics. When she's not working in the cardiology department at Credit Valley Hospital and the Brampton mass vaccination clinic, she enjoys eating out at different restaurants and binging her different subscriptions in her free time!

VANESSA LAM

Vanessa Lam
Literature Reviewer | Marketing TeamVanessa is currently working towards a BSc Honours Specialization in Neuroscience at Western University and was part of the 2020-2021 team for the InScight. She is currently a director on the Partnerships and Media Strategy team. Her research experience includes working within the fields of cognitive neuroscience and clinical psychology, and she loves cats and trying out new food!

ASHISH NAMBIAR

Ashish Nambiar
Literature ReviewerAshish graduated from the Honours Specialization in Biology program at Western University where he focused on Molecular Genetics. He currently works at The Hospital for Sick Children as a Clinical Research Technologist. His research experience includes a stint at the Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada centre in London under the Genomics & Biotechnology Division where he fell in love with high throughput biology. He was also involved as a Research Assistant for the Autism Spectrum and Language Disorders Lab at Western. He first joined COUHR as a literature reviewer for the Staying current with COVID summer series in 2020. Outside of Science, Ashish is obsessed with planes (formerly, VP Events for the Western Aviation Association) and trying out Korean recipes!

Jessie Song
Literature ReviewerJessie is a fourth-year Medical Sciences student at Western Univeristy. She was a literature reviewer for Inscight Volume I and is continuing in her role for the 2021-2022 school year. Jessie has conducted research at Toronto Rehab Institute and her interests lie in rehabilitation medicine, pathology, and pharmacology. Her hobbies include binge watching TV shows and baking for friends and family!

My name is Apple and I am in my third year of the Medical Sciences program at Western University with a honours specialization in Physiology and Pharmacology. I am the current VP of Events for COUHR London and was the Director of Graphic Design in the past. Over the last year, I have been researching stroke rehabilitation at the Lawson Health Research Institute.

Emily Chambers
Vice President of Marketing | Co-PresidentEmily is an incoming fifth year student at Western University who is pursuing a dual degree between Ivey Business School’s Honours Business Administration program with a Certificate in Sustainability and Western’s Honours Specialization in Media, Information, and Technoculture program. From 2020 to 2021, Emily was the founding VP Marketing for COUHR London and spent the year establishing the chapter’s social media presence on Instagram and Facebook. With this experience, Emily is excited to be stepping into the role of Co-President and Coordinator of Student Affairs and continuing to work with her talented team at COUHR London. Having worked as a Medical Affairs and Communications Intern at Sanofi and a Diabetes Marketing Intern at Eli Lilly, Emily is passionate about providing opportunities across industries to underrepresented students who have an interest in science. In her free time, Emily enjoys working with animals and has two dogs, two cats, and a rabbit of her own.
